TAMBOPATA COLLPA EL
CHUNCHO 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT |
DAY 1:
Arrival to Puerto Maldonado and the Lodge.
Morning flight from Lima or Cusco to Puerto
Maldonado (not included) and transfer from the
airport to the river port. Departure to the
Macaw lick by motorized dugout canoe, during
this trip you see the changes from colonized
deforested land to primary rain forest. Upon
arrival to the Chuncho Macaw salt clay lick.
Overnight at the camp-site. Lunch and Dinner.
DAY 2:
Before breakfast at first light we make a short
walk to the Collpa (Lick), on a normal day
hundreds of Macaws and other parrots come in the
morning for the salty clay . This is one of the
greatest wildlife spectacles in the world.
After breakfast we departure to Puerto
Maldonado.
ADDITIONAL DAYS:
Any number of extra days at the Lodge, in
addition to the above mentioned programs, are
possible.These can be guided or unguided
according to your preference and interests.
During these days you can either-explore the
trail system in more depth, going further a
field along trails not visited before, repeat
the lake visits accompanying other groups,
giving you more time to wonder/paddle in your
favorite areas, try your hand at tree climbing
(with ropes); visit our tree platforms for a
birdīs eye view of the forest and for close-ups
of arboreal orchids and the many other species
of plants and animals that are never seen near
the ground. Full board is included during each
of these days.
INCLUDED IN YOUR TRIP:
All meals and accomodation from lunch on Day 1
to lunch on your final day. All transport from
your arrival to Puerto Maldonado to your return
journey to the airport (inclusive). All guided
excursions described in the itinerary (including
on additional days, if you wish). One night
excursion on the river looking for Caiman.
EXCLUDED:
Flights to and from Puerto Maldonado, airport
taxes. Canopy or tower excursions. Any drinks
you may purchase from the bar. Tips, hotels,
entrance to the Tambopata Reserve S/65.oo.
CLOTHING:
For walks in the forest bring, light weight,
tight weave, loose fitting long pants, long
sleeve shirts, a brimmed hat, hiking or tennis
shoes. Rubber boots are vailable for a small
rental fee but in limited sizes only. T-shirts,
shorts and sandals/light socks are recommended
for around the lodge. It can get cool in the
early mornings, especially when on the river, a
wind jacket and pullover should be brought. Rain
gear:Come prepared with an appropriate rain
jacket or poncho, rain can be heavy at times.
Swimming suits for the streams and lakes.
PERSONAL ITEMS:
Apart from items of individual importance like
books, toiletries, etc.we recommended the
following as essential:Sunscreen,flaslight/batteries
day pack, water bottle, personal medications,
sunglasses, binoculars, pocket knife, passport,
ziplock bags, energy snacks, insect repellent.
MEDICAL INFORMATION:
Note that yellow fever inoculation is required
for travel to this area, tetanus, typhoid, and
gamma globulin shots are recommended.
Participants should consider taking precautions
against Malaria.A weekly oral dose of
Chloroquine, beginning two weeks before
departure, with an emergency carry-along dose of
Fansidar is the current recommendation, though
check with your physician.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
If you are planning to bring your camera we
recommended that you use film of 400 ASA or
higher for the twilight worl under the canopy.
Normal 100 ASA can be used when out on the river
or lakes. Protect your equipment with against
moisture with waterproof cases.
