SALKANTAY TREK -
MACHUPICCHU 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS |
DAY 1: CUSCO/SORAYPAMPA
07.00 am. Departure by our private transport to
Mollepata 2800 mts. beautiful scenic journey
through Limatambo, and stops for panoramic views
of the Apurimac Valley, Cultural tour in
Tarawasi, impressive "Ushnu" Inka Ceremonial
Stone Stage to appreciate represented flowers in
the Inka walls.
After we arrive to our trailhead, we meet our
arrieros “horsemen“ and trek staff, 6 hrs hiking
through traditional Andean communities like
Cruzpata, Challacancha , unspoiled Andean
villages to Soraypampa 3800 mts, our first camp.
Lunch, Dinner + Camping facilities.
DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA/CHAULLAY
7:30am we trek for 4 hours to start our ascent
to the Pass 4400mts from this point we can
appreciate the special views of the Mountain
Salkantay, a stunning snow capped mountain (6271
mts), 3 hours walking with spectacular views of
the mountains Humantay and Huayanay, small lakes
and morraines, then long downhill walk to Camp
in Chaullay 2950 mts. B L D + Camping

DAY 3: CHAULLAY/SANTA
TERESA
Early 4 hours walk to Kollapampa, downhill easy
hike, we will be introduced to a high Jungle
niche called Ceja de Selva where coffee, coca
and fruits plantations can be observed, time to
shower in a waterfall, take amazing pictures,
with luck we can observe the famous Peruvian
National Bird "Gallito de las Rocas" stop on the
river shore for Lunch + free time to rest. 3
hour walk to our last campsite in Llactapata
(newly discovered inca site) which is famous for
a “condor eye” view of Machu Picchu. Dinner +

DAY 4: AOBAMBA/AGUAS
CALIENTES
After a short journey of hiking we have mixed
modes of transportation, in the afternoon 2
hours descent by foot takes us to the
Hydroelectric Station on the Urubamba River then
we will take the train to Aguas Calientes 2000
mt. Special Dinner, great beds in the "Hostal
Viajeros", optional hot spring baths. B L D.
DAY 5: MACHUPICCHU/CUSCO
Early walk or bus to the Citadel of Machupicchu,
guided tour for 3 hours and plenty of free time
to explore more, optional time to Climb the
mountain Huayna Picchu, Temple of the Moon, or
the Gate of the Sun, Buffet lunch in Aguas
Calientes and at approx 16:00 hrs we are taking
our return train to Cusco arriving around 9:00
pm to Cusco City. B LINCLUDES; Private and local
transport, Camping equipment, all meals during
the tour, porters and donkeys, English speaking
guide, cooks, all entrance fees, and train
return back to Cusco, 3 nights in tents and 1
night in a Hostal. |
